The goal of AMVETS Career Centers is to help veterans and service members succeed in their chosen careers. We provide access to a full range of career, training, and employment services. Although some individual career centers may not provide all the services listed, another career center or local service provider will be able to assist.
Career Assessment and Exploration
Career assessments are generally paper/pencil or Internet-based tests which help veterans identify their career interests and goals. A veteran works with a career coach to select appropriate career assessments and discuss the results of the tests.

Career exploration refers to information about specific careers, such as job outlook, training requirements, working conditions, and typical salaries.

When used together, career assessment and career exploration helps veterans identify the gap between where they currently are in their careers and where they want to be. Veterans can use this information to set goals and develop personal career development plans.

Licensure and Certification
Licensure and Certification refers to civilian credentials which are mandatory, or highly recommended, before employment can be offered. We focus specifically on credentials that reflect the skills veterans learned while in the military.

If a veteran or service member can show that he or she is qualified for a civilian credential, AMVETS Career Centers will help pay for any required testing, certification or license fees.
Job Search and Placement
Each career center provides computer-based résumé writing services and personalized résumé assistance is available if needed. Career coaches can help you develop the job search and educate you on interviewing and salary negotiation skills. Furthermore, coaches will assist in developing an effective job search strategy.
